Thanh Chuong’s Viet Palace
On the same trip to the bears at Tam Dao we stopped at Thanh Chuong’s Viet Palace. It is a curious 2.5 acre haven of peace and quiet created by the famous Vietnamese artist Thanh Chuong. All the buildings are either newly created, but in traditional style, or actually older houses that have been transported and rebuilt from provinces in the North. Some of the structures house the artist’s work while others his ceramics collection. I particularly enjoyed exploring the gardens, which had beautiful ponds and banyan trees all doted with partially hidden sculptures and figurines.
Beautiful photographs as usual. At the recommendation of a friend we went to his house and bought an enormous lacquer painting of a water buffalo & child. Did not meet the artist though.
Bramble sends her best to your Hanoi hound!
Oh wow – how cool! Is it with you in London or in the states – Vietnamese art does tend to be rather large…
Such a beautiful and intriguing part of the world you live in. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
