Our honeymoon was spent on beach… but it was a rather cold and wet one in Sligo on the West Coast of Ireland. Photos of Ashford Castle, fours days of riding two tremendous horses along the dramatic coast of Sligo, and Dublin at the end (including the Dublin Horse Show).
Just Fantastic ! Now I’m definitely going to plan on going. Great idea to tie it in with the Dublin Horse Show.
The Horse Show actually just happened to coincide which was nice. The riding place in Sligo is brilliant as after an initial assessment you are pretty much left to fend for yourself for 4 days – no guides, just the horses, a map, and a series of guesthouses lined up where there is grazing for the horses at night. You do all your own tacking up and feeding each day. One day it took almost an hour to tack them up as we were outside in pouring rain and if a 17.2 horse doesn’t want his bridle on it is almost impossible (with my being only 5ft 4in!)
